Terms of Use

1. Agreement

By creating an HZen account, downloading the HZen app, or using HZen on the web, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Use ("Terms") and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use HZen.

2. Who can use HZen

You must be at least 13 years old to use HZen, and at least the age of majority in your jurisdiction to enter into the subscription portions of the service. By using HZen you represent that you meet these requirements.

3. What HZen is - and isn't

HZen offers guided meditation, journaling, fitness tracking, and community-circle content for general wellness purposes. HZen is not medical care. HZen is not a substitute for professional medical, psychological, or psychiatric advice, diagnosis, or treatment. If you are in crisis, contact emergency services or a qualified mental-health professional in your country.

4. Your account

You are responsible for all activity on your account.
You agree to provide accurate information at sign-up and keep it up to date.
You will not share your account or your authentication credentials with others.
You may delete your account at any time inside the app at Profile → Delete account.

5. Community guidelines

Community Circles and direct messages are anonymous spaces. To keep them safe, you agree not to post or send:

Harassment, threats, bullying, hate speech, or content targeting any protected group.
Sexually explicit content, content sexualizing minors, or any illegal content.
Spam, scams, advertising, phishing, or links intended to defraud.
Self-harm or suicide content that encourages or glorifies harm. (Discussing your own experience constructively is welcome; encouraging others to harm themselves is not.)
Personal information (yours or anyone else's) that could identify a person against their consent.
Anything that infringes a third party's copyright, trademark, or other intellectual property.

HZen offers in-app Block and Report tools. We review reports and may remove content, suspend, or terminate accounts that violate these guidelines, at our sole discretion and typically within 24 hours of a report.

6. Subscriptions, trials, and plan changes

Some HZen content is available only to paid subscribers (Premium and Signature tiers). Subscriptions are billed through Stripe and renew automatically each billing period until you cancel.

Free trial. New subscribers may receive a 7-day free trial. If you do not cancel before the trial ends, your card is charged for the first billing period and at each renewal thereafter. Cancelling during the trial costs nothing.
Changing plans. You can switch between Premium and Signature at any time from the subscription-management portal. When you switch, the difference in price is prorated for the current period. Switching plans during a free trial keeps your trial intact.
Cancellation. You can cancel at any time from the subscription-management portal. Cancellation stops future renewals; your access continues through the end of the current paid period, after which your account reverts to the free tier.
Failed payments. If a renewal payment fails, we will notify you and Stripe will automatically retry. Your access continues during a short grace period; if payment is not resolved, your account reverts to the free tier. You can update your payment method anytime from the subscription-management portal.

If you downloaded HZen through Apple's App Store, this Terms of Use also serves as the required End User License Agreement (EULA) for that download: this agreement is between you and HZen only, not Apple; Apple has no obligation to furnish any maintenance or support for HZen; and Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms and may enforce them against you.

7. Refunds

Except where required by law, subscription payments are non-refundable, and we do not provide prorated refunds for the unused portion of a billing period after cancellation. For purchases made through the Apple App Store or Google Play, refund requests are handled by Apple or Google according to their respective policies.

8. Content you post

You retain ownership of the content you post in Community Circles and direct messages. By posting, you grant HZen a worldwide, royalty-free license to host, display, and transmit your content for the purpose of operating the service. We do not use your community posts for advertising or AI-model training. You can delete content you have posted (or have your entire account deleted) at any time.

9. Intellectual property

The HZen name, logo, content library, exercises, and software are owned by HZen and its licensors. You may not copy, modify, or redistribute them except as permitted by the app's normal use.

10. Termination

We may suspend or terminate your account if you violate these Terms or behave in a way that harms other users. You may close your account at any time. On termination, the data-removal terms in our Privacy Policy apply.

11. Disclaimers and limitation of liability

HZen is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. To the maximum extent permitted by law, HZen and its officers, directors, employees, and agents disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability and fitness for a particular purpose. To the maximum extent permitted by law, HZen will not be liable for indirect, incidental, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the service.

12. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, United States, without regard to its conflict-of-law principles. Any dispute arising from these Terms or your use of HZen will be resolved exclusively in the state or federal courts located in California, and you consent to the personal jurisdiction of those courts.

13. Changes

We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be communicated in-app and via the "Last updated" date above. Continued use of HZen after a change constitutes acceptance.
